We are looking for a part time Digital Communications Officer to join our team at The A Project. The A Project, a non-profit non-governmental organization based in Lebanon, works on sexuality, gender justice, and sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR) and we envision a society where women and gender non-conforming people’s sexuality and mental health are reclaimed, cared for, respected, recognized in their diversities, and not weaponized against us.
We are looking for a Digital Communications Officer who shares our vision and passion for social justice and who will bring their experience and knowledge to help us harbor support and portray our vision throughout our different platforms. The role includes providing support for The A Project’s online presence, social media coverage, and audience engagement through the organization’s online platforms including website, blog, Instagram, Twitter, Facebook, Podcast Soundcloud account among others. The Digital Communications Officer will work closely with and report to the Coordinator of Knowledge Curation.
The A Project is a small team with a big membership base. Similarly to the breakdown of our group, we particularly encourage cis and trans women, trans men, and gender non-conforming people to apply.
Tasks of Digital Communications Officer include the following:
- Develop with the Coordinator of Knowledge Curation the monthly digital media strategy plan.
- Design and implement monthly digital media calendars and posts.
- Keep up to date The A Project’s weekly social media content management and scheduling tools.
- Maintain, categorize and update our communication platforms, such as mailing list, monthly Mailchimp newsletters, social media posts and messages etc.
- Manage and engage the audience of The A Project’s various social media platforms (Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, Soundcloud, Youtube, Gmail, Slack).
- Utilize and maintain The A Project’s visual identity through Canva and work with other designers to improve it.
- Cover The A Project’s events and trainings on social media.
- Promote the sexuality hotline and increase its reach, as well as our various calls, vacancies, activities, and events.
- Participate in the communications team discussions in suggesting dynamic initiatives, campaigns, and talks.
- Curate relevant and original content geared towards raising consciousness on the organization’s political values and broadening its audience.
- Curate organizational data, content, and outputs to broaden the outreach and discourse of The A Project.
- Create timely content engaging with current affairs to extend solidarity to regional and international organizing.
- Work with Grant and Finance Manager to maintain and keep track of communications analytics (Google and social media analytics) and collect both qualitative and quantitative data and information related to communications.
- Provide communications oversight over The A Project’s publications.
- Respond to media’s requests and inquiries, and create media campaigns by coordinating interviews and meetings
Requirements:
- An interest in social justice and sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR) (required).
- Understanding of social and political realities in Lebanon (required).
- Understanding of social and political realities in the region or on SRHR at large (desirable).
- Knowledge of creative digital media tools (scheduling, creative mediums) that diversifies content interface (required).
- Knowledge on how to increase visibility and engagement online (required).
- Strong written and oral communication skills in Arabic and English (required).
- A minimum of one year of relevant experience (required).
- Degree in media or arts is desirable, however experience and knowhow is valued higher.
- Creativity, organizational skills, attention to detail, and planning skills while able to practice flexibility to changing plans and circumstances (required).
- Must be able to work as a team member and independently, self-motivated and initiative taking, with a strong ability to prioritize and work under pressure when needed (required).
- Basic design skills and technical expertise in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, etc.) (desirable).
